How do I join?

Joining the SIUC Subunit of IL AFS is easy! We welcome all students, graduate or undergraduate,
as well as staff and faculty interested in promoting the conservation of aquatic resources.

Membership:
1.) Annual dues of $10 (pay online, cash, or check written to “SIUC AFS”)
2.) Volunteerism and participation in events is strongly encouraged, but not required
3.) To keep up-to-date on news and events, attendance of monthly meetings is recommended

Joining the SIUC Subunit of the IL AFS is a great opportunity in which to build your resume and gain career-building skills. Opportunities include: volunteerism and outreach events, lab and field techniques workshops, networking with fisheries professionals, and gaining and strengthening friendships within the greater fisheries community.

Additionally, members are involved in a variety of projects and events, which include:

  • Urban fishing programs
  • Habitat management
  • Electrofishing and pond management
  • Lab and field skills workshops
  • Community outreach
  • Fish-related summer camps
  • Organizing interactive aquatic activities for youth
  • Conferences and presentations
  • Fish fry and hog roast socials
